The Importance of Early Childhood Learning for Child Development

Education in early childhood or known as PAUD has been widely developed in the community. Parents are starting to realize the importance of PAUD's role in children's development. What exactly do children learn in PAUD? Has the child started to learn or just play? Do children need to learn at a very early age?
Basically, early childhood becomes an age that can be used by parents to introduce many things to them. At an early age, children tend to easily digest anything compared to adulthood. No wonder in PAUD, children have begun to be introduced to the basic lessons that become their provisions in kindergarten. Below will be discussed early childhood education lessons you need to know.
Letters and Sounds
At school, early childhood has been introduced with 26 letters, both form and sound. In PAUD these letters are often sung in alphabetical songs. Children can also see the shape of these letters through the media image. They have been introduced to uppercase and lowercase letters and become familiar with vowels: a, i, u, e, o along with the pronunciation and sound produced. Even children have been taught to be accustomed to writing their names and at the same time trained to begin to recognize simple words like "mama" and "papa".
Color, Shape and Object
The next lesson for PAUD children is about colors, shapes and objects. Children have been introduced to the color identities they see, both in Indonesian and in English. They also learn about shapes, such as the shape of a circle, triangle, square, and others. Furthermore, they recognize objects in their environment. Through these PAUD children's lessons, they can identify what objects have shapes and colors. For example, they can know the ball is a circle and the color is black and white. They can draw heads and know that they are round. They know the basic shape of the mountain and the roof of the house are triangles. They can also cite examples of square shaped objects, such as tables, doors, cabinets, and books.
Numbers and Counting
Other PAUD children's lessons are about mathematics. They began to recognize numbers 1 to 10. The shapes of numbers and the number of objects representing numbers were also introduced to them. PAUD children's lessons related to this figure are usually applied through objects or direct practice. Usually children are told to take a certain amount of objects. Example: take five blocks. Or the teacher provides a number of objects and the child is asked to count the number of objects. If the child already knows numbers and can count sequentially, the next level of PAUD children's learning is counting down. This will be their provision to learn addition and subtraction in kindergarten.
Cut and Draw
Another important lesson for PAUD children is to cut and draw. This cutting and drawing activity is intended to train children's motor movements, especially in the hands. Children with good motor skills can be seen when they can hold things tightly, can hold the stationery firmly, and can move the knuckles of the fingers smoothly. In addition to motor movement exercises, PAUD children's lessons on drawing and cutting also train children's imagination and creativity.
Socialize
The most basic PAUD children's lessons are socialization. Children are trained to give greetings, respond to questions, and ask teachers. The socialization of children who attend PAUD is developing more broadly, not only covering the family environment, but also the school environment. Children with good socialization skills are demonstrated through active communication with their peers and teachers.
Even though it is wrapped in the form of a game, early childhood education still pays attention to the abilities, interests, and character of children. With early debriefing, children are better prepared to move on to the next level of education. Similar to giving early learning in early childhood, parents should provide the best education early on in children.
Education is given appropriately so that positive things are well absorbed in children. How to provide the right education? At first you should know the character of the child in order to deliver the lesson correctly. Currently, there are inclusive schools that can provide lessons to adjust to the character of children. That way the lessons can be well absorbed and even support their talents.
