The last education required by the government for Indonesian children is at the high school level. Just like in the previous level, to enter this level there are also special rules regarding high school enrollment which are set by the state and every student who will register must follow the rules. These rules can change according to existing needs and conditions.

So that you don't get confused when it's time to enroll your children into high school, it's important for you to know what to pay attention to. Here are some things to consider when it comes to high school enrollment rules.

Some Important Points for High School Registration

1. Stages or Wave of Student Acceptance

Each high school has its own system for opening new student enrollments. Therefore, if you want your children to attend a particular school, it is best to frequently seek information about that school. Especially if the school has an acceptance system based on stages or waves. This gradual enrollment is usually enforced by private schools.

If your child is not accepted on the first wave, it can follow the next batch. Usually, for the next batch, the files and requirements will be more. For this reason, keeping track of information is the best way so that children can register for high school at the desired school.

2. Zoning

The zoning system is implemented so that education can be evenly distributed throughout the country. Even though many people have protested against this policy, until now this policy is still in effect. With a zoning system, it is hoped that the quality of schools will also improve. However, this zoning system only applies to public high schools.

For this zoning system, in general, the quota is divided into several parts: 50% for the zoning system, the affirmation line as much as 15%, then the parental transfer line at 5%. While the last route is the achievement path with a quota of 30%. The requirements for each of these zoning are different.

3. Completeness of Basic Terms

When registering your child, you also need to pay attention to the requirements that can vary from province to province. However, basically, the basic requirements for high school enrollment are the same. The basic requirements include that prospective students must be a maximum of 21 years old when registering and have a graduation certificate and a list of grades from junior high school level or equivalent.

In some high school-level vocational schools, a selection system is applied first as a basis for knowing the basic abilities of prospective students. If prospective students are unable to pass this selection test, the school cannot accept it.

4. Determining the Right School

Beyond the basic requirements for high school enrollment, the most important thing is to determine the right school first. We recommend that you choose a school that suits your child's abilities so that they can easily adapt. Currently, there are many choices of high school level schools, one of which is an inclusive school.

Inclusive schools have a slightly different curriculum from national schools in general. In this school, children are not required to be able to master all subjects. They are allowed to choose the subjects they like. Apart from learning certain subjects, children are also given space to hone their talents and potential.

Honing every child's talent is the goal of inclusive schools, in addition to improving academic achievement. Children who can develop their talents are believed to be more successful in the future than those who are forced to always learn. Therefore, parents should seek more information about this inclusive school as a consideration as a place to study their children.
